Birth and Early Life

Honourable Onorwi Ngofa was born on April 30, 1967, into the O O Ngofa's family of Aleto Clan, Nchia, in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State. From an early age, he demonstrated keen leadership qualities, academic diligence, and a passion for public service: virtues that would later define his career in governance and community development.

Education

Hon. Ngofa began his educational journey at Aleto State School, Eleme, where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) in 1979. He proceeded to Government Secondary School, Borikiri, Port Harcourt, earning his West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1984, during which he served successively as Sanitary Prefect (1983) and Senior Prefect (1984), a clear testament to his early leadership promise.

He went on to the Rivers State College of Education, Port Harcourt, obtaining his Nigerian Certificate in Education (N.C.E.) in Political Science and Social Studies in 1988. While there, he distinguished himself as President of the National Association of Eleme Students (NAES) and Secretary of the Ofalaru Eleme Youths Association (AFEYA), reflecting his consistent dedication to youth empowerment and Eleme unity.

Pursuing higher education, he gained admission to the University of Calabar, where he earned a B.Sc. (Ed.) in Political Science (Second Class Upper Division) in 1991. Not one to relent, he proceeded to obtain a Master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA) from the same institution in 1997.


Career and Public Service

Hon. Onorwi Ngofa’s professional career began with his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company Ltd, where he served as Public Affairs Officer (1991–1992). His blend of administrative skill and communication strength quickly set him apart.

In 1997, he was appointed Adviser on Political Affairs and Special Duties to the Chairman of Eleme Local Government Council, a position through which he gained valuable experience in grassroots governance.

His political acumen earned him appointment as Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Eleme Local Government Area, in 2002, a tenure marked by accountability, community mobilization, and infrastructural initiatives that promoted local development.

He also served as Personal Assistant to the Honourable Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Abuja, in 1999, contributing to national-level policy and administrative coordination.

In addition to his public service, Hon. Ngofa is an accomplished entrepreneur and administrator. He is the Principal Operating Officer of Aabchuss Ventures Limited (2001–present), a company engaged in providing project support services and civil and electro-mechanical construction and development.

A founding member of Elano Investments Limited, one of Eleme’s most successful indigenous corporate institutions, Hon. Ngofa has served as Member, Board of Directors and Chairman, Board Audit Committee since 2012, a role through which he has helped to ensure transparency, growth, and sustainability within the company’s operations.

Political Involvement and Leadership

A seasoned politician with deep grassroots connection, Hon. Ngofa has played pivotal roles within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other political formations over the years. He served as PDP Chief Agent at the LGA Collation Centre during the 2003 and 2015 elections, and was a Member of the PDP Rivers South-East Senatorial District Screening Committee in 2003.

Hon. Ngofa’s political life has been characterized by discipline, integrity, and a consistent advocacy for fair representation and community inclusion in governance.

Youth and Civic Engagement

Beyond formal politics, Hon. Ngofa has maintained strong ties with the youth and intellectual communities. As General Editor of the Graduate Students Association Press at the University of Calabar (1992–1994) and News and Current Affairs Editor of Campus Voice at the Rivers State College of Education (1987), he honed his skills as a communicator, advocate, and opinion leader. His enduring interest in education and youth development continues to inspire a new generation of Eleme leaders.

Legacy and Personal Life

Hon. Onorwi Ngofa remains one of Eleme’s most consistent voices for responsible leadership, social justice, and participatory governance. His contributions across education, politics, and corporate administration have earned him respect among peers and constituents alike.

A proud son of Aleto, his life reflects the Eleme ideals of hard work, service, and integrity: values he continues to uphold in every sphere of his engagement.
